The Sharon Soccer Association is pleased to announce that we will again be offering a goalkeeper clinic to interested Grade 3/4 (u10) Grade 5/6 (u12) and Grade 7/8 (u14) travel soccer players during the upcoming season. The clinic will be focused on teaching the fundamentals of goalkeeping (primarily footwork and catching techniques) and is primarily intended for children who are relatively new to goalkeeping and interested in developing a solid technical foundation as well as those who are uncomfortable playing this position and would like to build their confidence. Children who are already familiar with and confident with the fundamentals of different types of footwork and catching are absolutely welcome to attend and take advantage of the opportunity to refine those skills.
This fall the goalkeeper clinic will be held on Sunday afternoon at the Gavin's Pond field 1 from 4:45pm-6:00pm and will run from September 10 through October 29. While there is no charge to participate in this clinic, registration is required. To register, follow the link on the Sharon Soccer Association registration page, select the TRAVEL SOCCER - GOALKEEPER CLINIC - FALL 2017 option, followed by OPEN REGISTRATION. Registration is open now and will remain open until March 19th. Due to the planning required in response to the number of children participating, late registrations will not be accepted.
Please be aware that goalkeeping techniques generally build on each other, meaning that consistent participation will be important. While attendance is not mandatory, children registering for the clinic are strongly encouraged to attend each week.
