Whether you're a current player, a lifelong fan, or someone who enjoys working with kids—you can make a big impact on the field.

  • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and effort

  • Support kids during games and have fun!

Why coach?

  • Be a role model

  • Gain leadership experience for jobs or college

  • Make real connections with younger players

SSA pays high school students to referee recreational games for players in Grades 2–4.

What you'll do:

  • Officiate small-sided games on weekends

  • Apply basic soccer rules and keep the game fair

  • Be a calm, confident presence on the field

Why ref?

  • Earn money doing something you enjoy

  • Gain independence and communication skills

What We Expect from Volunteer Coaches

Volunteering as a coach is fun and rewarding—but it also comes with responsibility. When you sign up to help, younger players (and their parents) are counting on you!

  • Show up on time for practices and games, ready to help

  • Communicate in advance if you can’t make it—we understand things come up!

  • Be a positive role model on and off the field

  • Follow the guidance of your head coach and the SSA Director of Coaching

  • Create a fun, supportive, and fair environment for all players

  • Stay engaged during practices and games—phones away while on the field

  • Attend a brief training session to get you ready (we’ll provide details)
