TRAVEL SOCCER
Developing Skills. Building Teams. Playing with Purpose.
Sharon Travel Soccer is a competitive program for players in grades 3–8 who are ready to take the next step in their development and are committed to growing as part of a team. The program emphasizes long-term skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a supportive yet challenging environment.
Teams are coached by volunteer parent coaches who complete required training and are supported by Sharon Soccer’s Director of Coaching. Players compete in the South Shore Soccer League (SSSL) against teams from other towns, with weekly practices and weekend games held during both the Fall and Spring seasons.
Participation in the travel program is a full-year commitment—players are expected to play in both seasons and prioritize their commitment to the team. Player assessments are held every June to form teams for the upcoming year.
2026-2027 Travel Soccer Information
The registration fee is $335, which includes both the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 seasons. Registrations after June 1st will be considered late and the registration fee will increase to $350. Registration is required to attend tryouts and will close on June 5th. No walk-ins will be allowed.
Evaluations for the 2026-2027 Season will be held at Gavins Pond during the week of June 8-12. The schedule is published below and is by grade for the 2026-27 school year. Please be sure to attend the evaluation session(s) for the grade your child is entering this fall. For example, a child who is currently in 4th grade should attend the grade 5/6 evaluation sessions as they will enter 5th grade in the fall.

*These sessions may go until 8:30 pm depending on numbers to ensure adequate time to evaluate players
Please plan on arriving approximately 30 minutes early to your tryout to allow sufficient time to get checked in and have your child's photograph taken. Returning players should not wear their Sharon Soccer uniform or practice jersey to the tryout. Players will be assigned a numbered pinnie that will allow us to identify each player, and it is important that players not wear any numbered jerseys that could cause confusion with the pinnie number. Friday 6/11 will be the rain date for any cancelled sessions.
Evaluation Process
There will be two tryouts for each age group. While we encourage everyone to attend both tryouts a minimum of one is required. If you cannot attend EITHER tryouts, please let us know immediately by emailing secretary@sharonsoccer.org.
Tryouts will consist of a combination of small-sided and age-group specific games. Our goal is to give all players as much opportunity as possible to be actively engaged in the game. Each player will be evaluated by a combination of professional and volunteer coaches who are not familiar with the players. They will assess their abilities in multiple aspects and phases of the game. Players are strongly encouraged to focus on playing good, team-based soccer as opposed to prioritizing individual skills or abilities. For Grade 5/6 and Grade 7/8 tryouts, any player wishing to be evaluated based on their goalkeeping ability may volunteer to play in goal when requested by the coaches and their performance in goal will be given additional consideration in the team placement process.
If your child is ill, injured, out of town or otherwise unable to participate in tryouts, it is very important that you let us know ahead of time. We will do our best to make appropriate accommodations in the placement process for children who cannot participate in tryouts. Please note that we are unable to consider any 'after the fact' information regarding circumstances that may have influenced your child's participation in, or performance at the tryouts.
Players should arrive at tryouts properly dressed to play soccer. Shin guards (worn inside the players socks) are mandatory and no jewelry is allowed. Soccer cleats are strongly encouraged but not required (note however that cleats designed for other sports - i.e. baseball, softball, football, lacrosse, etc... - will not be permitted)
Reminder, when you register, you are registering for the full year of travel soccer which covers the Fall Season 2026 and the Spring Season 2027.

Travel soccer is a two-season commitment - fall and spring. If you are signing up for travel soccer, the expectation is that your child is committing to playing both fall and spring.
If you missed sign-ups and evaluations (so did not get placed on a fall team), occasionally there is space to join a team in the spring, so please email registrar@sharonsoccer.org to see if there is any availability in your child’s age group.
-
Fall season runs from September through November. In the fall, there is one practice per week, with day of the week typically determined by the coach's availability. The practices run from 5-6:15 pm due to limited daylight.
Spring season runs from late March to early June. In the spring, there are 1-2 practices per week, with day(s) of the week typically determined by the coach's availability. In the spring, there is the option for 2 practices due to more daylight and we offer two time slots 5-6:15 and 6:15-7:30 pm. Also, SSA tries to offer combined age group practices in the spring where space is possible and coaches are available to run them.
-
By email and by an app called QuickClub. Coaches uses the app to track RSVPs to practices and games.
The expectation is that you are RSVPing for all events, but particularly for games at a minimum of 2 days before the game is scheduled.
-
If it is a standing conflict, you should communicate this to the coach and to SSA so we can see if there is another team your child could practice with during the week and then rejoin the team for games on the weekends.
If it is just an occasional conflict, please communicate this with the coach by email or via QuickClub.
-
Depending on what division the team is in, games are primarily on Saturdays, but some teams play on Sundays (typically the lower divisions for grade 5/6), with an occasional Friday evening game.
Home games are held at Gavins Pond, but away games are held at any of the towns in the South Shore Soccer League - you can see a list of participating town fields here.
-
There is no summer soccer though sometimes we offer a summer skills clinic. Please check our Summer Soccer page for information on local soccer camps and clinics.
-
Thank you for volunteering to coach! You can register yourself at the same link as you register your child. You can also find more information on coaching here.

UNIFORMS
All travel soccer players must wear the official Sharon Soccer uniform (shirts, shorts, and socks) when playing.
Uniforms can be ordered from We Got Soccer here. While you're there, take a look our fan wear too. We'd love to see you around town or on the sidelines of your player's games showing your support for Sharon Soccer in style!
Prior to ordering your uniform, you will need to confirm the jersey number that has been assigned to your player. Jersey numbers can be found next to your player's name on the Travel Soccer Teams page.
If you have any questions about your child's number of if your child has 'REG" next to their name instead of a number, please contact our Registrar (registrar@sharonsoccer.org).
